Qualifying was an entertaining session, with drivers jostling for position in the slipstream, crucial for setting a competitive lap time at Road Atlanta. Pierre Antoine Delaire claimed pole position in the Pro class, while Stefan Melis secured the top spot in the Am class, both displaying impressive speed.
After the chaos of the previous round’s race start, drivers were keen to keep their cars clean, and overall, there were fewer incidents this time. However, misfortune struck Felix Smoggi once again, as he made contact with Andrew Pike, promptly ending his race.
Jamie Nuttall delivered an unexpected performance after reverting to the older-generation BMW GT4. He overtook Pierre on the opening lap and, despite some pressure from Pierre and Mike Pollard, managed to hold the lead for the entire race. In the Am class, the lead changed hands a few times. Stefan Melis lost the lead to David Long on the opening lap, but Long’s lead was short-lived as Bart Raven took over from lap two onwards.
Jamie Nuttall and Bart Raven emerged as the winners in the Pro and Am classes, respectively. These results are beginning to shape the championship standings, with no clear leader yet in the Pro class, while Bart Raven is starting to build a gap at the top of the Am class.
