TSRC Sports Car Series Round 1 Debrief
The TSRC Sports Car Series is a fresh addition to the community’s weekly racing schedule, and the season opener at Silverstone did not disappoint. This six-week championship features both GTP and GT3 cars sharing the track, competing across a diverse range of circuits, each presenting a unique challenge.
With limited qualifying time allowing drivers just three laps, it was Jamie Nuttall who secured pole position in the GTP class, while TSRC newcomer Janco den Hartog claimed the top spot in GT3. However, with a long race ahead, qualifying was only a small factor, as drivers would need to navigate both battling chaos and interclass traffic to succeed.
With double the car classes came double the start action. Grouped by class and spaced apart, every driver was poised for a start that could make or break their race in an instant. In the GTP class, Jamie Nuttall had a strong reaction off the line, holding his lead, while further back the rest of the field scrambled for space. Gergely Kun-Szabó, struggling in qualifying, was eager to make up ground, but his aggressive move led to race-ending contact for Martin Blankensteiner and Chris Rize. In the GT3 class, Janco den Hartog didn’t get off to the best start, struggling with cold tires and allowing rivals Volkan Bakirdan and Kieran Sharp to slip through.
As the race progressed, consistency became key as the GTP cars navigated through the rolling obstacles that were the slower GT3 cars. Multiclass racing demands great skill, and some drivers adapted better than others. A standout performer was GTP class leader Jamie Nuttall, who remained calm and composed while threading through traffic. Nuttall maintained his lead from start to finish, while in the GT3 class, Volkan Bakirdan claimed victory, though not without late pressure from Kieran Sharp.
Despite the lack of lead changes, several other drivers stood out. Hayden Miller inched closer to his first podium in TSRC sports car racing, while newcomer Christophe Fuchs made an impressive debut, nearly snatching pole position from Jamie Nuttall. Fuchs will be eager to challenge Nuttall in the races to come.
Next round the grid heads to Spa-Francorchamps that has recently had a rework on the iRacing platform. Watch the action live from 8 pm BST on our YouTube channel.
