TSRC 500 Endurance Series Round 2 Debrief
The Imola circuit hosted another spectacular race, marking the second round of the TSRC 500 Endurance Series on Assetto Corsa Competizione. The second round had a fair share of fortune and drama over the thrilling three-hour endurance race.
The qualifying session began under wet conditions, posing a real challenge for the teams. It didn’t take long for the rain to stop, and as the track began to dry teams knew it was only a matter of time before the track got quick. Some teams took advantage of the drying conditions more than others, with some teams qualifying higher than they may have done in normal dry conditions. The grid was certainly shaken up by the mixed condition qualifying session, however it was Benjamin Lange at the wheel for Team ONE ⦁ FF taking pole for the second round running.
As the race kicked off, the start was relatively clean despite how hard teams were fighting to gain positions. It was a familiar sight, as once again Team ONE ⦁ FF stormed off with one of the Armamentario Lamborghini cars. The teams were all very competitive at Imola with them all running very similar pace, as the race unfolded it provided some intense battles. As tensions rose between some teams they were eager to gain an advantage over their rivals, and some teams pushed beyond the limits and picked up some race result defining penalties in the midfield.
As the race came to a close it would be Team ONE ⦁ FF picking up the victory, this was a well deserved win after the previous race was unfortunate for them. It would be reversed outcomes at the finish line for F1 MEMES Racing Team who were the championship leaders going into the second round. F1 MEMES Racing Team found themselves picking up a penalty after causing an incident with Team Shazoo GT Omega, which stopped them both from finishing on the podium. #3 Simply Race Esports and the #69 Armamentario teams rounded off the podium.
Next round will be the midpoint of the season for the teams at the famous Spanish motorcycle venue of Circuit Ricardo Tormo. With three rounds remaining out of the five, anyone can still earn a spot in the SimGrid x VCO Grand Finals.
