TSRC PC GT3 Series S6 Round 4 Debrief
The iconic Donington Park Circuit played host to the fourth round of the TSRC PC GT3 Series (S6) championship, in what was a twist to the usual format. Racers were presented with a challenging sprint round consisting of two 20-minute races, with the first being a reverse grid, based on championship standings. The race was filled with unexpected turns, breathtaking overtakes, and intense action.
Race One - The Reverse Grid Challenge
The reverse grid format always promises thrilling action, and this race was no exception. Yotam Sharon, taking the pole for the Overall class, had his mirrors filled with competitors from the start. However, it was Jack Southfield who rose to the occasion, overtaking Sharon early in the race. Southfield then showed resilience, holding off seasoned challengers like Samuel Cholmondeley and the ever-present Bailey Thompson to grab the win.
In the Am class, Marco Borrelli seemed to have sealed the deal with a race win, but post-race penalties turned the tables. This twist of fate handed the victory to Mav Gardner, who inherited the top spot on the podium.
Race Two - Traditional Qualifying Heats Up
The grid for the second race was set by the season's closest qualifying. Bailey Thompson secured pole position with a 1:25.407. He was closely trailed by Yuval Sharon, who was just +0.018 seconds behind – an indication of the razor-thin margins separating the top competitors.
Despite Sharon's best efforts, Thompson maintained his lead throughout, crossing the finish line with a narrow lead of just over two seconds. Meanwhile, in the Am class, pole sitter Thomas Rorvik converted his advantage into a race win, with Mav Gardner continuing his impressive form to land another podium finish at Donington.
Gearing up for Watkins Glen
As the championship moves closer to its climax, all eyes now turn to the penultimate round at the legendary Watkins Glen circuit. With the title race heating up, racers will be putting it all on the line to gain crucial points.
